90 min

Location

Flemingdon Park

Join astronomers from the Dunlap Institute to learn about the geometry of eclipses. Learn about the positions of the earth, sun and moon during different types of eclipses. Then, create your own scale model of the earth-moon-sun system in order to understand the shadows cast during an eclipse. All materials will be provided.

Did you know there is a solar eclipse on April 8, 2024? This program is part of programming leading up to this special event. A limited number of eclipse glasses will be available for program attendees.

The Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto is an endowed research institute with over 80 faculty, postdocs, students, and staff, dedicated to innovative technology, ground-breaking research, world-class training, and public engagement.

Registration is required as materials and space are limited. Register in-person or by calling Flemingdon Park branch at (416) 395-0837
