Make Your Pinhole Solar Viewer! Sat March 16

Make your own pinhole solar viewer to safely view the sun! Astronomers from the Dunlap Institute will explain the principles behind pinhole cameras, how they can be used to view bright objects such as the sun and what actually happens during a solar eclipse. Then, make your own solar viewer to take home! All materials will be provided.

Did you know there is a solar eclipse on April 8, 2024? This program is part of programming leading up to this special event. A limited number of eclipse glasses will be available for program attendees.

The Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto is an endowed research institute with over 80 faculty, postdocs, students, and staff, dedicated to innovative technology, ground-breaking research, world-class training, and public engagement. 

Registration required. Please register in person at the Mount Pleasant Branch or by calling 416-393-7737. Please note, this program is for adults/older adults only.
