Intro to 3D Design with TinkerCAD

TinkerCAD is a web browser based 3D application. Through the creation of simple everyday objects, students will learn the tools for object based 3D Design. In this class, we will explore the basics of TinkerCAD and you will get a chance to print out your very own keychain! 

Registration is not required, but supplies are limited. Ages 13 – 17.

Children age 6-12 are invited to join us for a fun hour of robotics, coding, circuitry or other science-related activities. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in the activities with their children. Due to the limited number of robots and equipment, children may be required to share with other participants.

Registration is required. Please register in the branch or call 416-393-7717 to reserve your spot.

Join us for fun activities after school on Fridays. Learn new things, make stuff, meet other kids, and have fun!  We'll enjoy a variety of activities from robotics to arts & crafts.  Snacks are offered during the After School Club for participants.  Food may contain or have come into contact with common allergens.  Ingredient lists will be available.  Snacks are generously supported, in part, by donors.  For ages 6 to 12 years old.  Drop in, no registration required.

NatureTO: Trees Around the Branch Tour

NatureTO: Trees Around the Branch Tour

The Highland Creek Branch and its neighbourhood is home to a variety of trees. Join City Of Toronto Urban Forestry staff to explore the natural world on a local neighbourhood walk. Learn how to recognize different species and fun facts about their cultural and ecological importance.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

Please note, the tour will start and end at the Highland Creek Branch. The City of Toronto Urban Forestry staff outside and around the neighbourhood where there may be uneven, unpaved surfaces will guide attendees. Please dress and prepare accordingly for this outdoor program (e.g. hats, sunscreen, water, comfortable shoes). This program takes place rain or shine. In the event of severe inclement weather, you will be notified of an alternative date.

Toronto has one of the largest urban forests in the world. Join City of Toronto Urban Forestry staff for an in-library presentation on this amazing natural habitat that reaches all corners of Toronto.

We’ll talk about what makes the urban forest so special and share tools to explore and understand it better. Bring questions and curiosities and leave with embolden confidence and understanding of your City and the natural world that surrounds you!

Select Saturdays, come in for a fun tech surprise as we explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through coding, circuitry, robotics and more! Will we play a song with Dash? Will we teach Sphero robots to complete a maze? Will we make a fan spin with Snap Circuits? Will we build a bridge? Join us to find out! 

For ages 4-12. Drop-in. No registration required.

May 4th: Robots Invade the Library – learn to drive the Sphero and Dash
May 11th: “Robot” Hand – make a ‘robotic’ hand out of straws
May 25th: Sphero Bowling – code Sphero to knock over the bowling pins
June 8th: Sphero Meteor – program Sphero to be a meteor and Earth
June 22nd: Video Games with Sphero – use Sphero as the controller
